ABOUT UPSC CAPF

The UPSC CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) Exam is a national-level examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India. The exam recruits candidates for the position of Assistant Commandant (AC) in the CAPF, which includes various paramilitary forces like the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Here’s an overview:


1. Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens.

Age Limit: Typically between 20 and 25 years, with some relaxations for specific categories (SC/ST, OBC, etc.).

Educational Qualification: A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

Physical Standards: Candidates must meet specific physical and medical standards prescribed by UPSC, ensuring they are fit for duties associated with CAPF roles.

2. Exam Structure

The CAPF exam has three stages:

Stage 1: Written Examination

Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence (Objective type) - 250 Marks

This paper includes sections on general mental ability, current events, Indian polity and economy, history, geography, and general science.

Paper II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension (Descriptive type) - 200 Marks

This paper requires candidates to write essays, answer questions on current issues, and show comprehension and language skills.


Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Medical Standards Test

Physical tests include a 100m race, 800m race, long jump, and shot put.

Candidates must also clear medical and vision tests to ensure they meet the specific health standards required for CAPF roles.


Stage 3: Personality Test (Interview)

Candidates who clear the PET and medical test move to the personality test round, which is conducted for 150 marks. This is an in-depth interview where candidates are assessed on various personality traits, including leadership skills, psychological resilience, and communication.
